We will be presenting robust and resilient solutions as well as inspiring innovations at Fruit Logistica, 7-9 February 2024 (Hall 1.2, D-13). In this event, we have a lot on show. Sweet Palermo® colour mixes are gaining shelf space
Red, yellow, orange and chocolate… Dutch grower Marcel van Kester cultivates the whole range of colours of Sweet Palermo, the surprisingly sweet pointed pepper. “Not just the red variant, but all the colours excel in terms of taste. That remains the brand’s key strength,” he says. Ever more retailers are planning to introduce mixed-colour packs in addition to the red Sweet Palermo, and the Norwegian supplier BAMA is one company supporting this move. Marcel will talk about how this trend is helping his company to move ‘freshly forward’, as expressed in Rijk Zwaan’s theme for Fruit Logistica in Berlin.
“Results from our ToBRFV-resistant tomato varieties exceed expectations”
The tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) is affecting growers almost everywhere in the world, and southern Europe is no exception. That’s why, with a great sense of urgency, Rijk Zwaan launched tomato varieties with Rugose Defense for mid-tech growers last year. “The results have exceeded our expectations – and we will keep on moving forward. Non-resistant varieties are no longer in scope,” states Crop Coordinator Tomato and Rootstocks David Herzog. Rugose Defense is one of the topics Rijk Zwaan is addressing at Fruit Logistica in Berlin.

Indonesian grower Sweet Greens is well on the way to reaching its ultimate goal: supplying to Asian and Middle Eastern markets. “We grow the sweetest, softest and juiciest melons for affordable market prices. Thanks to our optimal greenhouse, we can achieve the genetic potential of Rijk Zwaan’s seeds,” states Suhadi Zaini, CEO of the company. He is eager to move ‘freshly forward’, as expressed in Rijk Zwaan’s theme for Fruit Logistica in Berlin.
