With effect from 7 May 2010 the International Bremia Evaluation Board has officially named a 27th strain of Bremia lactucae (downy mildew). Part of the Rijk Zwaan lettuce range is resistant to this strain.
Rijk Zwaan is pleased that, with the official naming of Bl:27, clarity is now provided about a strain that has been around for a good while. For some time now, resistance to it has, therefore, been routinely crossed in by Rijk Zwaan in its lettuce range. Now that the strain has been officially recognised, the company is able to once again inform its customers clearly and more fully of the resistance patterns of its varieties.
