Announcement of nominees RZ Plant Sciences Award 2010

Remco Mentink, Arjan van Zeijl and Magdalena Maria Julkowska are the nominees for the RZ Plant Sciences Award 2010, which will be presented to the winner on 18th March at Rijk Zwaan in De Lier.


For the fourth time, Rijk Zwaan will present the award to the student with the best plant science thesis. Out of 8 entries, an independent expert jury has selected the following three:

  • Remco Mentink with the thesis “Characterization and mapping of the complete Arabidopsis thaliana N-linked glycoproteome”, carried out at Wageningen University.
  • Arjan van Zeijl with the thesis “Regulation of auxin homeostasis by strigolactones in Arabidopsis”, carried out at Wageningen University.
  • Magdalena Julkowska with the thesis “On the interaction of SnRK2.4 with phosphatidic acid and the significance of SnRK2.4/2.10 in maintaining lateral growth under hyperosmotic stress”, carried out at the University of Amsterdam.


Apart from having the honour of winning the RZ Plant Sciences Award, the winner also receives a cash sum of € 1,500 and he/she will go on a working visit to one of the 24 Rijk Zwaan establishments abroad. On 18th March the nominees will present their thesis and the jury will announce the winner. The ceremony will take place in ‘De Focus’, the new phytopathological research centre of Rijk Zwaan in De Lier.
