The Rijk Zwaan brassica open days will be held at the Rijk Zwaan trial site. All the Commercially available varieties in the Rijk Zwaan Brassica range will be demonstrated as well as varieties due to be released in the next year. In order to hit peak maturity all fast growing varieties (cauliflower, broccoli and some cabbage ) are planted 3 times a week apart. Plant spacings are geared to demonstrate the crops at their optimum density which may include a high and low density for some cabbage. A number of specific varieties are demonstrated to check their suitability for baby production i.e. ultra high density spacing.
During the event, European brassica specialists and members of the Rijk Zwaan brassica breeding team are present to give guided tours along the crops.
The starting and finishing dates of this event have not yet been definitely decided. Very good or, conversely, very bad weather conditions can strongly influence the growth of a crop. Because we want to present our varieties in their best possible condition it is sometimes decided to bring an event forward or put it back by a few days. If you have any questions about this please contact the subsidiary responsible for the country in which the event is taking place.
