Growing vegetables has become a very intensive and specialised business. Due to the growing demand for even better quality, vegetable growers and plant raisers demand basic material of good quality. Especially the demand for specific seed and the demand for more information about seed have increased enormously. Growers want more information about the germination of the seed and the number of plants they will ultimately get from it.



Environmental factors
Changing environmental factors influence the final results. It is not usually possible, therefore, to give detailed information about germination and other characteristics of the seed. It is, after all, a natural product!

Quality margins
In order to meet customers’ wishes as much as possible, Rijk Zwaan has drawn up quality margins for the various seed categories. Germination vigour tables show what the minimum values are, according to the ISTA method. If the seed does not comply with these values, Rijk Zwaan will inform the customer of this.
